Mark your calendars for July 25!!! A letter from Dr. DeKoninck on the new Middle School!

Posted by on in Isom Elementary News
Dear Greenwood School Community,

I hope you are enjoying the summer with your family!  Being in the midst of our country’s July 4th celebration, it seems to be an appropriate time as well to send you a message about an important celebration coming up for our school community.

As I am sure you are aware, our community has supported the construction of a new middle school!  As I write this, we are in the final stages of preparation for the building to officially open to students on July 31st.  This is an exciting and proud time for not only the Greenwood School community but the city of Greenwood as well.

On behalf of the School Board, I would like to invite you to an Open House on Tuesday, July 25th.  The Open House will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a brief program in the gymnasium.  After the program, members of the community will be able to tour the facility at their leisure until 8:00 p.m.  Please consider attending this celebration!

The new school is located at 1584 Averitt Road.  The majority of the parking will be on the south side of the school, off Stop 18 road. Please enter through door 10S.  There will be some parking available on the north side of the school as well.  If you park in the north lot, you may enter through door 1N.

Thank you for your support of Greenwood Schools.  I look forward to seeing you on the 25th.

Kent DeKoninck, Ph.D.

Superintendent

From the desk of Mrs. Santos…..

Posted by on in Isom Elementary News
Welcome Back!  We are eager to get the year started and have many activities planned.

This week I have been meeting in the library with your students to talk about respect and kindness.  I have also been explaining what bullying behavior looks like and how it affects everyone.  I talked about our incentive programs:  Fire Fighter Friday, Chick-Fil-A, Paw Print Awards and Popcorn parties.

Mrs. Wooton is meeting with each class to review expected classroom and school behavior.

Also kindergarten students helped me explain my role as Student Services Advisor.

Funny Glasses-I can help you when you are not feeling yourself.  Big Glasses-I help students see things from a different perspective.  Clown Nose-I help students without being nosey.  Big Ears-I listen to what students have to say. Clown Wig-See me its not a big hairy deal! Continue reading

Open House!!!

Posted by on in Isom Elementary News
Grades 1-5 Open House is Monday, July 25 from 6-7:30. Come in and meet your teacher and don't forget to bring your school supplies so you don't have to worry about them on the first day!

Open House for kindergarten is Tuesday night, July 26 - if your last name starts wtih A-M, you come from 6-7:00 pm. If your last name starts with N-Z, you should come from 7-8:00 pm. That way we won't have too many people here at one time and you'll have a chance to chat with your child's teacher. Don't forget your school supplies!
