News from Ennis

Mobile Dentist  Postponed
to February 2, 2022

I wanted to let parents know that Westwood will postpone the Mobile Dentist visit scheduled for 11/30/21 during the school day to February 2, 2022.  We may combine with Southwest to ensure that there are enough kids needing dentist work to meet the criteria for the dentist to visit.   We wanted to ensure that all students have access to a dentist.  If you would like your child to have Dental Care.  If interested, please fill out the attached form.

Information about Body Safety Program
December 1 from Mrs. House

Per Indiana Code IC 20-30-5-5.7, schools must provide instruction on child abuse.  In order to comply with the mandate, Westwood Elementary will present a personal body safety program to K - 5 students on December 1, 2021.

During this instructional session, students are taught grade appropriate lessons to help them stay safe in our community and beyond.  The importance of treating others with kindness and respect as well as recognizing what constitutes healthy and respectful relationships are the central focus of the lessons.  In addition, students will practice strategies to prevent, deflect, and how to ask a trusted adult for help when they are in a setting in which they feel unsafe.

A link to a parent and guardian training module can be found here.  We  encourage you to take the opportunity to watch the short videos and learn specific steps you can provide to help your family stay safe.  The password for the videos is:  4par3nts

Working together, we can all help to ensure the health and safety of our children.

Information to Help Support Westwood PTO & Kids using Amazon Smile

If you will be using Amazon this season, consider using http://smile.amazon.com and using Westwood Elementary School PTO Inc as the group that receives a portion of the sale.  This does not increase the cost of the item purchased, it just gives a small portion back to the school.  The kicker is to remember to use the above website instead of amazon.com.  Thanks for considering this as an easy way to help Westwood.
