Congratulations to our robotics teams across the district! Northeast and GMS each made it to the semi-state competition round. On December 16th, our high school team won the Think Award; this means their engineering portfolio was outstanding and one of the best at the competition. The middle school team held their ground in the top five all day at the same competition event.
On December 7th and 8th, our GHS seniors presented their senior capstone projects. This is a big part of completing their final year of high school. Thank you to everyone that helped a senior with a project as a mentor, teacher, or judging. When a student successfully completes their presentation, they go to ring the bell as a sign they have finished their capstone. Our students did really well this year!
Senior Ava Smith has organized the second annual Light in the Darkness Walk. The goal of the evening is to promote mental health awareness for the prevention of suicide. It will be held Saturday, September 30th at the Greenwood HS track. This year’s walk looks to be even bigger than last year. Please feel free to join our students at 7:00 pm for this event. Everyone is invited to come out and walk. We hope to see many people from our schools and community there!
Mental Health Awareness Night: Anthem Healthcare, Greenwood Education Foundation, and Greenwood Community Schools have partnered this week to help bring awareness to mental health. Greenwood High School will be hosting a “Community Tailgate” tonight starting at 5:30 in the GHS parking lot. The event will be held prior to the home football game. Thank you to Anthem Healthcare as they reached out to coordinate this effort to make our students and staff at GHS more aware of the 988 service available for those in need.
